We often take for granted that restaurants provide food that is safe for us to eat. However, with only slightly dipping food hygiene standards can a case of food poisoning occur. Food poising is almost entirely preventable, and so if a restaurant or take away has failed in this duty of care to you, they may be liable. Whilst it is difficult to prove liability for food poising, if the provider has seriously damaged your digestive organs, you may stand a real chance of claiming compensation.
Family narrowly misses injury and food poisoning on ‘holiday from hell’

A British family has described their all-inclusive Thomas Cook break as a ‘holiday from hell’. Alan and Sarah O’Rourke from Cheshire had high expectations after spending £1,500 on the family holiday at the four-star Cabogata Mar Hotel & Spa in Spain, which were quickly shattered. Mr O’Rourke narrowly missed serious injury after the bathroom tiles began to fall on him in the shower, followed by the family being served raw sausages in the hotel restaurant. Food poisoning has a number of different causes, including when bacteria contaminates under-cooked or unwashed meat, poultry, fish, or fruit and vegetables.
